QUEBEC'S COCO CHANEL! Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, early 20th century. Adèle Paradis has finished school and proudly accepts a job as a cleaner at her region's famous hotel, the Château Roberval. She's barely started when a middle-class lady, vacationing at the Château, offers Adèle the chance to live in Quebec City. Madame Dubois offers to hire her to take care of little Honoré and do some household chores. Leaving her country home to live in the big city! And getting there by train, no less! Adèle, who really wants it, can hardly contain her joy. Once the nostalgia of leaving has passed, Adèle discovers Quebec City and all its attractions. She gets used to city life. Then, Madame Dubois introduces a new object into the house: a sewing machine. Curious and interested, Adèle will soon be introduced to sewing. The store where she places her orders amazes her. She begins to dream of color and fabric combinations. How she would love to stop being a little maid! To earn a living by sewing, and even better, creating clothes! To be free! With the help of a few people around her, including a charming young man with whom she slowly falls in love, Adèle takes her life into her own hands.
