PM Library: Magenta books build Emergent reading concepts and skills. The Level 1 books help students master a growing number of high-frequency words, with deliberate text/image match design. After reading the Level 2 and Level 2-3 books, students should be able to recognise 25-30 high-frequency words and be confident with simple sentence constructions. Five wordless books are included at the beginning of the Magenta collection. Each book is designed to develop the oral literacy skills of beginner readers. They introduce students to the structure of several text types such as the narrative and information report, while encouraging them to retell stories and describe factual events.
